Lee Damariscota, aka; "Khaos Commando" states,; " I am out here every day advocating for the Homeless, Supporting our troops - I do not need to be, but I am here for those who gave it all!" Lee, who is a double-amputee goes on to explain, I am no more disabled, then those in government who cannot see the impact of their poor decisions.
Originally from High Point, North Carolina, Lee sets his outpost on the the north-side center median of the Highway 55/54 intersection in Durham, where he walks the median with his liberty stick and high-tech Prosthetics, now his daily vigil.
Some that drive by are touched at his determination, some see him as panhandler looking for a handout, some question if he was in the military, some feel guilty, some feel fear, some ask are we doing enough for our troops? for our disabled? for our homeless? For those who lost their way? One thing is common and Lee achieves this every day he is at his outpost - he is thought provoking.
Even though Lee accepts handouts, he is not actively seeking these as he believes he has a higher calling to not give up or to feel any self-pity, he continues what he see's is the fight to bring awareness to those who are less fortunate then he is.
